اسلام کا تصورِ محبت اور ویلنٹائین ڈے کی حقیقت

محبت کیا ہے؟
محبت ایک فطری اور طاقتور جذبہ ہے‘ جو کبھی بھی، کسی کو بھی ، کسی سے بھی ہوسکتی ہے۔ محبت دو طرح کی ہوتی ہے: پاکیزہ محبت اور چناپاک محبت۔
پاکیزہ محبت:
پاکیزہ محبت خلوص،ایثار اور وفاداری پر قائم ہوتی ہے اور ہمیشہ پائیدار اور دائمی رہتی ہے۔ اور ہر قسم کے ذاتی مفاد، خود غرضی اور بے وفائی سے پاک ہوتی ہے۔
ناپاک محبت :
خبیث محبت مالی، ذاتی اور جنسی‘ رذیل مفادات، خودغرضی اور بے وفائی پر قائم ہوتی اور ہمیشہ کمزور رہتی اور جلد ختم ہوجاتی ہے،بلکہ اس کا انجام دشمنی پر ہوتا ہے۔
اسلام کا تصورِ محبت:
پوری کائنات میں سب سے زیادہ محبت کا داعی اور فروغِ محبت پر ابھارنے والا مذہب اگر کوئی ہے تو وہ صرف اسلام ہے‘ جس میں محبت کو ایمان کی بنیاد قرار دیا گیا ہے۔
نبی کائنات جناب محمد رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کا ارشادِ گرامی ہے: ’’قسم ہے اس ذات کی جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے، تم اس وقت تک جنت میں داخل نہیں ہوسکتے‘ جب تک کہ ایمان نہ لے آؤ اور اس وقت تک مومن نہیں بن سکتے‘ جب تک کہ آپس میں محبت نہ کرو،کیا میں تمہیں ایسی چیز نہ بتاؤں جس سے تم آپس میں محبت کرنے لگو گے؟ آپس میں سلام کو فروغ دو۔‘‘
(صحیح مسلم:کتاب الایمان، باب بیان انہ لاید خل الجنۃ الا المؤمنون و ان محبۃ المؤمنین من الایمان )
پیغامِ محبت کا امین‘ دین اسلام چونکہ خود ایک پاکیزہ مذہب ہے، لہٰذا اپنے ماننے والوں کو بھی ہمیشہ اور ہر معاملے میں پاکیزگی اختیار کرنے کا حکم دیتا اور صرف پاکیزگی کو ہی قبول کرتا ہے۔ سیدنا محمد رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کا ارشادِ گرامی ہے: ’’اے لوگو! بے شک اللہ تعالیٰ پاکیزہ ہے اور پاکیزگی کے سوا کوئی چیز قبول نہیں کرتا۔‘‘ (صحیح مسلم: کتاب الزکوٰۃ،باب قبول الصدقۃ من الکسب الطیب وتربیتھا)
اسی لئے پاکیزہ محبت صرف وہی لوگ اپناتے ہیں‘ جو اسلام جیسے پاکیزہ دین سے محبت کرتے اور خود بھی مسلمان او ر مومن ہوتے ہیں۔
ہر انسان اپنے ہی جیسے انسان سے محبت کرتا ہے:
ابتدائے کائنات سے یہ ایک مسلمہ قاعدہ چلا آرہا ہے کہ ہر انسان دنیا میں اپنے ہی جیسے کردار کے حامل لوگوں سے محبت کرتا اور ان ہی کی رفاقت کا طالب رہتا ہے۔ جیسے : مشرک، کافر، زانی، شرابی، چور، ڈاکو، قاتل وغیرہ سب گنہگار اپنے ہی جیسے گنہگاروں سے محبت کرتے ہیں، اسی طرح مسلمان اور مومن صرف اللہ اور اس کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم اور دیگر مومنین سے ہی محبت کرتے ہیں۔
اور اللہ تعالیٰ دنیا میں بھی ان لوگوں کو اسی ترتیب سے جمع کرتا ہے اور آخرت میں بھی ان کا انجام انہی لوگوں کے ساتھ ہوگا ‘جن سے وہ دنیا میں دلی محبت کرتے ہوںگے۔ اللہ تعالیٰ کا فرمان ہے: ’’خبیث عورتیں‘ خبیث مردوں کے لائق ہیں اور خبیث مرد‘ خبیث عورتوں کے لائق ہیں۔ اور پاکیزہ مرد پاکیزہ عورتوں کے لائق ہیں اور پاکیزہ عورتیں پاکیزہ مردوں کے لائق ہیں۔‘‘ (النور:26/مزید دیکھئے :النور:3)
یہ تو دنیا میں ان کی اپنے ہی جیسے کرداروں سے باہمی محبت اور میل جول ہے، اسی طرح آخرت میں بھی یہ لوگ اپنے ہی جیسے کرداروں کے ساتھ اٹھائے جائیں گے۔
’’اس (قیامت کے) دن لوگ (اپنے اعمال کے مطابق) مختلف ٹولیوں کی صورت میں جمع کئے جائیںگے، تاکہ انہیں انکے اعمال دکھادیئے جائیں، پھر جس نے ایک ذرہ برابر بھی نیکی کی ہوگی تو وہ اسے دیکھ لے گا اور جس نے ایک ذرہ برابر بھی برائی کی ہوگی تو وہ اسے بھی دیکھ لے گا۔‘‘ (الزلزال:6-8)
نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کا فرمان: ’’(خواب میں)میرے پوچھنے پر جبریل اور میکائیل علیہ اسلام نے مجھے بتایا کہ جو منظر آپ کو دکھائے گئے ہیں ان میں سے سب سے پہلے جس شخص پر آپ کا گزر ہوا اور اس کے جبڑے، نتھنے اور آنکھیں گدی تک لوہے کے آلے سے چیری جارہی تھیں‘ یہ وہ شخص تھا جو صبح کے وقت گھر سے نکلتا تھا تو جھوٹی خبریں گھڑتا تھا‘ جو ساری دنیا میں پھیل جاتی تھیں اور دوسرے برہنہ مرد اور عورتیں جو آپ نے تنور میں جلتے ہوئے دیکھے وہ زانی مرد اور عورتیں تھیں اور تیسرا وہ شخص جو خون کی ندی میں غوطے کھارہا تھا اور جس کے منہ میں بار بار پتھر ڈالے جارہے تھے یہ وہ شخص تھا جو دنیا میں سود خور تھا۔‘‘ (صحیح بخاری: الجنائز، باب ماقیل فی اولاد المشرکین)
نبی مکرم صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کا ارشادِ گرامی ہے: ’’(قیامت کے دن)آدمی اس کے ساتھ ہو گا جس کے ساتھ (دنیا میں) محبت کی ہوگی۔‘‘ (صحیح بخاری: کتاب الادب، باب علامۃ حب اﷲ عزوجل)مذکورہ دلائل سے یہ بات ثابت ہوچکی ہے کہ قیامت کے دن ہر انسان کاانجام اس کی دنیوی دوستی، محبت اور اعمال کی بنیاد پر ہوگا اور ہر ایک اپنے ہی قبیلے کے فرد کے ساتھ یاتو سخت ترین عذاب دیاجائے گا یا پھر بہترین نعمتوں میں ہوگا۔
پاکیزہ محبت کے مستحق کون؟
اسلامی اعتبار سے پاکیزہ محبت کی سب سے زیادہ حقدار اللہ تعالیٰ کی ذات ہے، پھر اللہ کے حبیب جنابِ محمد رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کی ذاتِ اقدس اور اس کے بعد تمام اہل ایمان۔
ان محبتوں کا حصول ہر مسلمان پر فرض ہے، اس کے بغیر ایمان مکمل نہیں ہوتا۔ اللہ تعالیٰ کا ارشاد ہے: "بے شک تمہارے دوست تو صرف اللہ، اسکا رسول(صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم) اور وہ اہل ایمان ہیں‘ جو نماز قائم کرنے، زکوٰۃ ادا کرنے اور اللہ کے آگے جھکنے والے ہیں۔ اور جو شخص اللہ، اس کے رسول(صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم) اور اہل ایمان کو اپنا دوست بنالے‘ وہ یقین مانے کہ اللہ کا گروہ ہی غالب رہنے والا ہے۔ ‘‘ (المائدہ:55-56)
نبی ٔ رحمت صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کا فرمانِ مبارک ہے:خ’’تم مومن کے علاوہ کسی کو اپنا دوست نہ بناؤ۔ ‘‘(ابو داؤد: کتاب الادب، باب من یؤمران یجالس)
’’آدمی اپنے دوست(محبوب) کے دین پر ہوتا ہے، لہٰذا ہر آدمی کو یہ دیکھنا چاہئے کہ وہ کسے اپنا دوست بنا رہا ہے؟‘‘ (حوالہ مذکور)
دین اسلام ہر معاملہ میں اُخروی کامیابی کو اہمیت دیتا ہے، اس لحاظ سے ہر مسلمان کو کسی سے بھی محبت کرنے سے پہلے اسکے اُخروی انجام پر غور کرنا ضروری ہے۔
پاکیزہ محبت ہی ذریعہ نجات ہے
اصل محبت وہی ہے جو بے غرض ہو،پرخلوص ہو اور ہمیشہ سلامت رہے۔ اور اس سے زیادہ پائیدار اور دائمی محبت اور کیا ہوسکتی ہے کہ جو نہ صرف دنیا، بلکہ آخرت میں بھی کارآمد ہو اور نجات کا ذریعہ بن جائے۔ اللہ تعالیٰ کا ارشاد ہے:
’’خبردار! اللہ کے وہ دوست جو اللہ پر ایمان لائے اور پرہیزگار بن کر رہے ، ان کیلئے کسی قسم کا خوف اور غم نہیں ہوگا، ان کیلئے دنیا اور آخرت میں بھی بشارتیں ہی ہیں۔ اللہ کی باتیں کبھی نہیں بدلتیں۔ یہ بہت بڑی کامیابی ہے۔‘‘ (یونس:62-64)
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم نے فرمایا: ’’اللہ کے بندوں میں سے کچھ لوگ ایسے ہیں‘ جو نہ نبی ہیں اور نہ شہدائ، لیکن قیامت کے روز اللہ تعالیٰ انہیں ایسے درجات سے نوازے گا جن پر انبیاء اور شہداء بھی فخر کریں گے۔ صحابہ رضوان اللہ علیہم اجمعین نے عرض کیا ‘ اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم! وہ کون لوگ ہونگے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: یہ وہ لوگ ہونگے جو بغیر کسی رشتہ یا مالی لین دین کے محض اللہ کی رحمت(رضا) کے حصول کی خاطر ایک دوسرے سے محبت کرتے ہیں۔ اللہ کی قسم! انکے چہرے نورانی ہونگے اور وہ نور کے منبروں پر ہونگے۔ جب لوگ خوف زدہ ہونگے تو انہیں کسی قسم کا کوئی خوف نہیں ہوگا۔ جب لوگ غم زدہ ہونگے تو یہ بے غم ہونگے۔ اسکے بعد رسولِ اکرمeنے یہ (مذکورہ، یونس:62-64) آیت تلاوت فرمائی۔‘‘ (سنن ابی داؤد: کتاب البیوع، باب فی الرھن)
ناپاک محبت کا بدترین انجام
دنیا میں اپنی خودساختہ دوستیوںپر فخر کرنے والے ، اپنے محبوبوں کی قربت کی چاہت میں اپنی آخرت برباد کرنے والے اور انکے اشارۂ ابرو پر اپنا سب کچھ قربان کرنے کے دعویدار قیامت کے دن آپس میں بدترین دشمن بن جائینگے ، اپنی محبت کے اس بدترین انجام پر ایک دوسرے کو مورودِ الزام ٹھہرائینگے اور اپنی حرکتوں پر شرمندگی و پشیمانی کا اظہار کرینگے۔
ذرا پڑھئے کہ اللہ کا سچا کلام قیامت کے دن کا کیا نقشہ کھینچتاہے:
’’بہت ہی گہرے دوست اس (قیامت کے) دن ایک دوسرے کے دشمن ہوںگے، سوائے پرہیزگاروں کے۔‘‘ (الزخرف:67)
’’اس (قیامت کے) دن ظالم اپنے ہاتھوں کو (احساسِ ندامت سے) چبا چبا کر کہے گا ‘ ہائے کاش! میں نے رسول(صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم) کا راستہ اختیار کیا ہوتا۔ ہائے افسوس‘ کاش میں نے فلاں کو اپنا دوست نہ بنایا ہوتا۔اس نے میرے پاس نصیحت آجانے کے بعد بھی مجھے گمراہ کردیا اور شیطان تو انسان کو (وقت پر) دغا دینے والا ہے۔‘‘(الفرقان:27-29)
ویلنٹائین ڈے(Valentine's Day) کی حقیقت
ویلنٹائین ڈے کے متعلق کئی متضاد روایات تاریخی کتب میں موجود ہیں، مگر ان میں سے اکثر سے زیادہ من گھڑت قصہ کہانیوں پر مشتمل ہیں۔ بعض روایات معروف تحقیقی ادارے ’’Britannica Encyclopedia‘‘ کے حوالے سے ملتی ہیں، جنہیں پڑھ کر یہ معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ یہ دن عیسائیوں کے کیتھولک فرقے کی مذہبی رسومات کا ایک خاص دن ہے۔ اصل لفظ ’’Valentine Saint ‘‘ہے۔ یہ لاطینی زبان کا لفظ ہے۔ ’’ Saint‘‘کاترجمہ ’’بزرگ‘‘ہے، جو پادریوںکیلئے بولا جاتا ہے۔ عیسائیوں کے کیتھولک فرقے کے لوگوں کا یہ عقیدہ ہے کہ ہر سال 14، فروری کو ’’Valentine‘‘ نامی پادریوں کی روحیں دنیا میں آتی ہیں، اس لئے وہ اس دن کے تمام معمولات‘ بشمول عبادات و نذر و نیاز انہی کے نام سے سرانجام دیتے ہیں۔ اس عقیدے کی ابتداء رومیوں سے ہوئی۔ پھریہ دن فرانس اور انگلینڈ میں بھی بطورِ خاص منایا جانے لگا اور اس دن فرانس، انگلینڈ اور دیگر مغربی ممالک میں تعطیل ہوتی ہے اور وہ اس دن اپنی عبادت گاہوں میں خاص قسم کی عبادات سرانجام دیتے ہیں۔ اس رسم کے غیر معقول ہونے اور دنیائے عیسائیت کے معتبر پادریوں کی مخالفت کی وجہ سے یہ دن بالکل معدوم ہوچکا تھا، چودھویں صدی عیسویں کے ایک متعصب عیسائی اسکالر ’’Henry Ansgar Kelly‘‘نے اپنی ایک کتاب (انٹرنیٹ پر دستیاب ہے) ’’Chaucer and the Cult of Saint Valentine‘‘ کے نام سے خاص اسی موضوع پر لکھی اور عشق و محبت کی خودساختہ کہانیوں کے ذریعے اسے محبت کے دن کے نام سے دوبارہ دنیا میں روشناس کروایا۔ اٹھارھویں صدی میں اسے فرانس اور انگلینڈ میں سرکاری سرپرستی حاصل ہوئی اور پھر رفتہ رفتہ عشق و محبت کا یہ خودساختہ دن دنیا بھر میں ہر سال مزید جدت اور جوش و خروش کے ساتھ منایا جانے لگا ۔

پس پردہ حقائق
اس دن کی تاریخی حیثیت اور اسے منانے کا موجودہ طریقہ ہمیں اس کے جن مضمرات اور پس پردہ حقائق کو سمجھنے میں مدد فراہم کرتا ہے‘ وہ یہ ہیں:
یہ دن عیسائیوں کی ایجاد ہے چ یہ ان کی مشرکانہ عبادت کا دن ہے ژ خود عیسائی پادری بھی اسکے مخالف ہیں ڈاس کے معدوم ہونے کے بعد ایک متعصب عیسائی اسکالر نے اسے دوبارہ زندہ کیا۔ گ اسے عیسائی ممالک میں سرکاری سرپرستی میںمنایا جاتا ہے۔ ‘اس دن کی اہمیت میں بیان کی جانے والی عشق و محبت کی تمام داستانیں جھوٹی ہیں۔
موجودہ دور میں اس کو منانے والا عموماً ہم جنس پرست، زانی ، فحاشی پسند اور مغرب نواز طبقہ ہی ہے اور ایسے ہی لوگوںمیں اس دن کو بطورِ خاص اہمیت حاصل ہے، یعنی یہ ناپاک لوگوں کا تہوار ہے۔
یہودی، عیسائی اور تمام کفار و مشرکین اسلام اور مسلمانوں کے ازلی و ابدی دشمن ہیں، اسلام اور مسلمانوں کو مٹانے کے معاملے پر یہ تمام قولی و عملی طور پر متفق و متحد ہیں۔ ایک طرف مسلمان ملکوں پر ناجائز قبضے اور ان پر تباہ کن بم برساکر ان کے خلاف قتل و غارت گری کا بازار گرم کیا ہواہے، دوسری طرف ان کی عورتیں اور بچے اغوا کر کے ان سے جبراً حرام کاری کروائی جارہی اور ُپر مشقت کام لئے جارہے ہیں اور تیسری طرف اسلام کو غیرمہذب، قدامت پسند اور بنیاد پرست مذہب قرار دیکر اپنی غلیظ اور ناپاک تہذیب کو جدید اور اعتدال پسند ظاہر کیا جارہا اور اسے مسلمانوں میں فروغ دے کر ان کی ایمانی غیرت و حمیت کو ختم کر کے نوجوانمسلمان مردوں اور عورتوں میں جنسی بے راہ روی کو عام کرنے کی بھرپور کوششیں کی جارہی ہیں۔ ان تمام باتوں کی صداقت ان کی کتابوں اور روزمرہ کے بیانات میں روزِ روشن کی طرح عیاں ہے۔
پس اے مسلمانو! کفار کی ان سازشوں کا مقابلہ اسلام سے محبت کی صورت میں کرو، تمہارا اپنے دین سے محبت، اس پر ایمان اور عمل انکی سازشوں کوانکے اپنے خلاف پھیر سکتا ہے، لہٰذا آج سے ہی ہر معاملے میں کفار سے مشابہت اور انکی رسومات میں شرکت اپنے اوپر حرام کر دو۔ اللہ مسلمانوں کا حامی و ناصر ہو۔

حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا : بیشک صدقہ اﷲتعالیٰ کے غصہ کو ٹھنڈا کرتا ہے اور بری موت سے بچاتا ہے۔

ایک شخص 70 سال کی عمر کو پہنچ گیا ۔ بڑھاپے نے اپنا اثر دکھانا شروع کیا ۔ ایک وقت وہ بھی آیا کہ کھانا نگلنا دشوار ہو گیا پھر ایک دن اچانک نوبت یہاں تک آ گئی کہ کھانا نگلنا ممکن ہی نہ رہا ۔ بوڑھے شخص کو اس کے بچوں نے اسپتال میں داخل کر دیا ۔ ڈاکٹروں نے ایمرجنسی آپریشن کا مشورہ دیا ۔ آپریشن کامیاب رہا -
اکاونٹنٹ نے بوڑھے شخص کو اسپتال کا بل تھما دیا جس میں آپریشن سے لے کر اس کے اسپتال میں قیام تک کے سارے اخراجات موجود تھے ۔ بل دیکھ کر بوڑھا شخص رونے لگا۔ اکاونٹینٹ یہ دیکھ کر جلدی جلدی اپنے افسر کے پاس گیا اور اسے بوڑھے شخص کے رونے کا قصہ سنایا۔
افسر اسی وقت بوڑھے کے پاس پہنچا اور کہا کہ اگر بل دینا آپ کے بس میں نہیں ہے تو ہم اس کا کوئی اور انتظام کر سکتے ہیں ۔ بوڑھے شخص نے کہا کہ میرے چار بیٹے ہیں اور یہ بل دینا میرے لیئے کوئی بڑی بات نہیں۔ میں اس لیئے نہیں رویا کہ میں بل ادا نہیں کر سکتا بلکہ میں اس لیئے رو رہا ہوں کہ
میرے رب نے مجھے 70 سال کھلایا لیکن آج تک میرے ہاتھ میں بل نہیں تھمایا!
ذرا سوچئے اور ہر سانس کے ساتھ الحمد للہ کہنے کو اپنی عادت بنا لیجئے پلیز . الله اپنا شکر ادا کرنے والے بندے کو پسند کرتا ہے !

افسر اسی وقت بوڑھے کے پاس پہنچا اور کہا کہ اگر بل دینا آپ کے بس میں نہیں ہے تو ہم اس کا کوئی اور انتظام کر سکتے ہیں ۔ بوڑھے شخص نے کہا کہ میرے چار بیٹے ہیں اور یہ بل دینا میرے لیئے کوئی بڑی بات نہیں۔ میں اس لیئے نہیں رویا کہ میں بل ادا نہیں کر سکتا بلکہ میں اس لیئے رو رہا ہوں کہ
میرے رب نے مجھے 70 سال کھلایا لیکن آج تک میرے ہاتھ میں بل نہیں تھمایا!
ذرا سوچئے اور ہر سانس کے ساتھ الحمد للہ کہنے کو اپنی عادت بنا لیجئے پلیز . الله اپنا شکر ادا کرنے والے بندے کو پسند کرتا ہے !

Celebrating Valentine’s Day In Islam
First of all, we’d like to shed light on the origin of this festival, known as “Valentine Day” or “Festival of Love”:
The Festival of Love was one of the festivals of the pagan Romans, when paganism was the prevalent religion of the Romans more than seventeen centuries ago. In the pagan Roman concept, it was an expression of “spiritual love”.
There were myths associated with this pagan festival of the Romans, which persisted with their Christian heirs. Among the most famous of these myths was the Roman belief that Romulus, the founder of Rome, was suckled one day by a she-wolf, which gave him strength and wisdom.
The Romans used to celebrate this event in mid-February each year with a big festival.
One of the rituals of this festival was the sacrifice of a dog and a goat. Two strong and muscular youths would daub the blood of the dog and goat onto their bodies, then they would wash the blood away with milk. After that there would be a great parade, with these two youths at its head, which would go about the streets. The two youths would have pieces of leather with which they would hit everyone who crossed their path. The Roman women would welcome these blows, because they believed that they could prevent or cure infertility.
The connection between Saint Valentine and this festival:
Saint Valentine is a name which is given to two of the ancient “martyrs” of the Christian Church. It was said that there were two of them, or that there was only one, who died in Rome as the result of the persecution of the Gothic leader Claudius, c. 296 CE. In 350 CE, a church was built in Rome on the site of the place where he died, to perpetuate his memory.
When the Romans embraced Christianity, they continued to celebrate the Feast of Love mentioned above, but they changed it from the pagan concept of “spiritual love” to another concept known as the “martyrs of love”, represented by Saint Valentine who had advocated love and peace, for which cause he was martyred, according to their claims. It was also called the Feast of Lovers, and Saint Valentine was considered to be the patron saint of lovers.
One of the beliefs connected with this festival was that the names of girls who had reached marriageable age would be written on small rolls of paper and placed in a dish on a table. Then the young men who wanted to get married would be called, and each of them would pick a piece of paper. He would put himself at the service of the girl whose name he had drawn for one year, so that they could find out about one another. Then they would get married, or they would repeat the same process again on the day of the festival in the following year.
The Christian clergy reacted against this tradition, which they considered to have a corrupting influence on the morals of young men and women. It was abolished in Italy, where it had been well-known, then it was revived in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, when in some western countries there appeared shops which sold small books called “Valentine’s books”, which contained love poems, from which the one who wanted to send a greeting to his sweetheart could choose. They also contained suggestions for writing love letters.
Secondly:
It is not permissible for a Muslim to celebrate any of the festivals of the kuffaar, because festivals come under the heading of shar’i issues which are to be based on the sound texts.
It is not permissible for the Muslims to imitate them in anything that is uniquely a part of their festivals, whether it be food, clothing, bathing, lighting fires, refraining from a regular habit, doing acts of worship or anything else. It is not permissible to give a feast or to give gifts, or to sell anything that will help them to do that for that purpose, or to allow children and others to play games that are part of the festivals, or to wear one’s adornments.
To conclude:
The Muslims should not do any of their rituals at the time of their festivals; rather the day of their festival should be like any other day for the Muslims. The Muslims should not do anything specific in imitation of them.
Thirdly:
The scholars have issued fatwas stating that it is haraam to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
1 –Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked:
In recent times the celebration of Valentine’s Day has become widespread, especially among female students. It is a Christian festival where people dress completely in red, including clothes and shoes, and they exchange red flowers. We hope that you can explain the ruling on celebrating this festival, and what your advice is to Muslims with regard to such matters; may Allah bless you and take care of you.
He replied:
Celebrating Valentine’s Day is not permissible for a number of reasons.
1- It is an innovated festival for which there is no basis in Islam.
2- It promotes love and infatuation.
3- It calls for hearts to be preoccupied with foolish matters that are contrary to the way of the righteous salaf (may Allah be pleased with them).
It is not permissible on this day to do any of the things that are characteristic of this festival, whether that has to do with food, drinks, clothing, exchanging gifts or anything else.
The Muslim should be proud of his religion and should not be a weak character who follows every Tom, Dick and Harry. I ask Allah to protect the Muslims from all temptations, visible and invisible, and to protect us and guide us. End quote from Majmoo’ Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (16/199)
2 – The Standing Committee was asked: Some people celebrate Valentine’s Day on the fourteenth of February every year. They exchange gifts of red roses and wear red clothes and congratulate one another. Some bakeries make red coloured sweets and draw hearts on them, and some stores advertise products that are especially for this day. What is your opinion on the following:
1- Celebrating this day
2- Buying things from the stores on this day
3- Storekeepers who are not celebrating it selling things that may be given as gifts to people who are celebrating it?
They replied:
The clear evidence of the Quran and Sunnah – and the consensus of the early generations of this ummah – indicates that there are only two festivals in Islam: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Any other festivals that have to do with a person, a group, an event or anything else are innovated festivals, which it is not permissible for Muslims to observe, approve of or express joy on those occasions, or to help others to celebrate them in any way, because that is transgressing the sacred limits of Allah, and whoever transgresses the sacred limits of Allah has wronged himself. If the fabricated festival is also a festival of the kuffaar, then the sin is even greater, because this is imitating them and it is a kind of taking them as close friends, and Allah has forbidden the believers to imitate them and take them as close friends in His Holy Book. And it is proven that the Prophet (pbuh) said: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.” Valentine’s Day comes under this heading because it is an idolatrous Christian festival, so it is not permissible for a Muslim who believes in Allah and the Last Day to observe it or approve of it or congratulate people on it. Rather he has to ignore it and avoid it, in obedience to Allah and His Messenger, and so as to keep away from the causes that incur the wrath and punishment of Allah. It is also haraam for the Muslim to help people to celebrate this or any other haraam festival by supplying any kind of food or drink, or buying or selling or manufacturing or giving or advertising etc., because all of that is cooperating in sin and transgression and is disobedience towards Allah and His Messenger (pbuh). Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Help you one another in AlBirr and AtTaqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression. And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Severe in punishment.” [al-Maa’idah 5:2]
The Muslim must adhere to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah in all his affairs, especially at times of fitnah when evil is widespread. He should be smart and avoid falling into the misguidance of those who have earned Allah’s anger and who have gone astray, and the evildoers who have no fear of Allah and who do not have any pride in being Muslims. The Muslim must turn to Allah and seek His guidance and remain steadfast in following it, for there is no Guide except Allah and no one can make a person steadfast but Him. And Allah is the source of strength. May Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions. End quote.
3 – Shaykh Ibn Jibreen (may Allah preserve him) was asked:
Among our young men and women it has become common to celebrate Valentine’s Day, which is named after a saint who is venerated by the Christians, who celebrate it every year on February 14, when they exchange gifts and red roses, and they wear red clothes. What is the ruling on celebrating this day and exchanging gifts?
He replied:
Firstly: it is not permissible to celebrate these innovated festivals, because it is an innovation for which there is no basis in Islam. It comes under the heading of the hadeeth of ‘Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), according to which the Prophet (pbuh) said: “Whoever introduces anything into this matter of ours that is not part of it will have it rejected.”
Secondly: it involves imitating the kuffaar and copying them by venerating that which they venerate and respecting their festivals and rituals, and imitating them in something that is part of their religion. In the hadeeth it says: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.”
Thirdly: it results in evils and haraam things such as wasting time, singing, music, extravagance, unveiling, wanton display, men mixing with women, women appearing before men other than their mahrams, and other haraam things, or things that are a means that leads to immorality. That cannot be excused by the claim that this is a kind of entertainment and fun. The one who is sincere towards himself should keep away from sin and the means that lead to it.
And he said:
Based on this, it is not permissible to sell these gifts and roses, if it is known that the purchaser celebrates these festivals or will give these things as gifts on those days, so that the seller will not be a partner of the one who does those innovations. And Allah knows best. End quote.

As regards the Islamic stance on this festival, Dr. Su`ad Ibrahim Salih, professor of Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) at Al-Azhar University, states the following:
Indeed, Islam is the religion of altruism, true love, and cooperation on that which is good and righteous. We implore Allah Almighty to gather us together under the umbrella of His All-encompassing Mercy, and to unite us together as one man. Allah Almighty says: (The believers are naught else than brothers. Therefore make peace between your brethren and observe your duty to Allah that haply ye may obtain mercy.) (Al-Hujurat 49: 10)
Focusing more on the question in point, I can say that there are forms of expressing love that are religiously acceptable, while there are others that are not religiously acceptable. Among the forms of love that are religiously acceptable are those that include the love for Prophets and Messengers. It stands to reason that the love for Allah, and His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) should have the top priority over all other forms of love.
Islam does recognize happy occasions that bring people closer to one another, and add spice to their lives. However, Islam goes against blindly imitating the West regarding a special occasion such as Valentine’s Day. Hence, commemorating that special day known as the Valentine’s Day is an innovation or bid`ah that has no religious backing. Every innovation of that kind is rejected, as far as Islam is concerned. Islam requires all Muslims to love one another all over the whole year, and reducing the whole year to a single day is totally rejected.
Hence, we Muslims ought not to follow in the footsteps of such innovations and superstitions that are common in what is known as the Valentine’s Day. No doubt that there are many irreligious practices that occur on that day, and those practices are capable of dissuading people from the true meanings of love and altruism to the extent that the celebration is reduced to a moral decline.

بعض لوگ 14 فروری کو ہر سال عید الحب (عید ِمحبت) ویلنٹائین ڈے (valentine day) مناتے ہیں۔ جس میں سرخ گلاب کے ایک دوسرے کو تحفے دیئے جاتے ہیں اور سرخ لباس پہنے جاتے ہیں، اسی طرح بعض مبارکبادیں بھی دیتے ہیں، یہاں تک کہ کچھ بیکری والے کیک مٹھائی وغیرہ بھی سرخ رنگ میں بناتے ہیں اور اس پر دل کی شکل بناتے ہیں، اس کےعلاوہ بعض دکانیں اپنی پروڈکٹس پر جو اس دن کی مناسبت سے ہوتی ہیں اعلانات وپیغامات پرنٹ کرتی ہیں۔آپ کی مندرجہ ذیل باتوں کے بارے میں کیا رائے ہے:
اولاً: یہ دن منانا؟
ثانیاً: اس دن دکانوں سے خریداری کرنا؟
ثالثاً: ایسے دکاندار جو یہ دن نہیں مناتے ان کا ایسے لوگوں کو جو یہ دن مناتےہیں ایسی چیزیں فروخت کرنا جنہیں وہ بطورِ تحفہ پیش کرتے ہیں؟

اس سوال کو مکمل پڑھنے کے بعد فتوی کمیٹی یہ جواب دیتی ہے کہ کتاب وسنت کی ادلہ صریحہ اور جس پر سلف امت کا اجماع ہے وہ یہ ہے کہ اسلام میں فقط دو عیدیں ہیں جو عید الفطر اور عید الاضحی ہیں ، ان کے علاوہ جو بھی عیدیں ہیں خواہ وہ کسی شخصیت ، یا کسی جماعت ، یا کسی واقعہ سے متعلق ہو یا پھر کسی بھی معنی میں ہو تو یہ بدعتی عیدیں ہیں ، اہل اسلام کے لئے بالکل بھی جائز نہیں کہ وہ اسے منائیں، یا اسے مانیں ، نہ ہی اس میں کسی قسم کی خوشی کا اظہار کریں اور نہ ہی کسی بھی چیز سے اس میں اعانت کریں، کیونکہ یہ اللہ تعالی کی حدود کو پامال کرنا ہے اور جو کوئی بھی حدودِ الہی کو پامال کرتا ہے تو وہ اپنے ہی نفس پر ظلم کرتا ہے۔
مزید برآں اس اختراع شدہ عید پر اگر یہ بھی اضافہ ہوجائے کہ وہ کافروں کی عیدوں میں سے ہے، تو یہ گناہ درگناہ کی موجب ہے، کیونکہ اس میں ان سے مشابہت ہے اور ان سے ایک طرح کی محبت ہےجبکہ اللہ تعالی نے مومنین کو ان سے مشابہت اختیار کرنے اور ان سے محبت کرنے سے اپنی کتاب عزیز میں منع فرمایا ہے، اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے یہ ثابت ہے کہ
آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ‘‘مَنْ تَشَبَّهَ بِقَوْمٍ فَهُوَ مِنْهُمْ’’([1])
(جس نے کسی قوم سے مشابہت اختیار کی تو وہ انہی میں سے ہے)
ویلنٹائین ڈے بھی انہی عیدوں میں سے ہے جو بیان ہوئی کیونکہ یہ بت پرستوں اور نصاری کی عید ہے، کسی مسلمان کے لئے جو اللہ تعالی اور یوم آخرت پر ایمان رکھتا ہے حلال نہیں کہ وہ اسے منائے ،یا اسے مانے، یا پھر اس کی مبارکباد دے، بلکہ اسے اللہ تعالی اور اس کے رسولصلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی بات مانتے ہوئے اور اللہ تعالی کی ناراضگی وعقوبت کے اسباب سے بچتے ہوئے اسے ترک کرنا واجب ہے۔
اسی طرح ایک مسلمان پر یہ بھی حرام ہے کہ وہ اس عید یا کسی بھی حرام عیدوں میں کسی بھی چیز کے ذریعہ تعاون کرے چاہے وہ کھانے، پینے، خرید، فروخت، صناعت، تحفہ، خط وکتابت، اعلان یا پھر اس کے علاوہ جس بھی طریقے سے ہو، کیونکہ یہ سب گناہ وزیادتی اور اللہ تعالی اور اس کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی نافرمانی میں تعاون ہوگا جبکہ اللہ تعالی کا فرمان ہے:
﴿وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَلا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الإثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ﴾
(المائدۃ: 2)
(اور نیکی اور پرہیزگاری کے کاموں میں ایک دوسرے کے ساتھ تعاون کرو، اور برائی اور زیادتی کی کاموں میں ایک دوسرے کے ساتھ تعاون نہ کرو، اور اللہ تعالی سے ڈرو بیشک اللہ تعالی سخت سزا دینے والا ہے)
ایک مسلمان پر واجب ہے کہ وہ اپنے تمام حالات میں خصوصاً فتنوں کے اوقات اور اور فساد کی کثرت کے موقع پر کتاب وسنت سے اعتصام وتمسک اختیارکرے، اسے چاہیے کہ ہوش کے ناخن لے اور ڈرے کہ کہیں ان مغضوب علیہم، ضالین اور فاسقین جن کی نظر میں اللہ تعالی کا کوئی وقار نہیں اور جو اسلام سے کوئی دلچسپی نہیں رکھتے کی گمراہیوں میں واقع نہ ہوجائے۔ ایک مسلمان کو چاہیے کہ وہ اللہ تعالی کی ہدایت کو طلب کرنے اور اس پر ثابت قدم رہنے کے لئے اسی سے لو لگائے، کیونکہ اللہ تعالی کے سوا کوئی ہدایت دینے والا اور ثابت قدمی بخشنے والا نہیں۔
اللہ تعالی ہی توفیق دینے والا ہے اور درود وسلام ہو ہمارے نبی محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی آل واصحاب پر۔

بعض لوگ 14 فروری کو ہر سال عید الحب (عید ِمحبت) ویلنٹائین ڈے (valentine day) مناتے ہیں۔ جس میں سرخ گلاب کے ایک دوسرے کو تحفے دیئے جاتے ہیں اور سرخ لباس پہنے جاتے ہیں، اسی طرح بعض مبارکبادیں بھی دیتے ہیں، یہاں تک کہ کچھ بیکری والے کیک مٹھائی وغیرہ بھی سرخ رنگ میں بناتے ہیں اور اس پر دل کی شکل بناتے ہیں، اس کےعلاوہ بعض دکانیں اپنی پروڈکٹس پر جو اس دن کی مناسبت سے ہوتی ہیں اعلانات وپیغامات پرنٹ کرتی ہیں۔آپ کی مندرجہ ذیل باتوں کے بارے میں کیا رائے ہے:
اولاً: یہ دن منانا؟
ثانیاً: اس دن دکانوں سے خریداری کرنا؟
ثالثاً: ایسے دکاندار جو یہ دن نہیں مناتے ان کا ایسے لوگوں کو جو یہ دن مناتےہیں ایسی چیزیں فروخت کرنا جنہیں وہ بطورِ تحفہ پیش کرتے ہیں؟

اس سوال کو مکمل پڑھنے کے بعد فتوی کمیٹی یہ جواب دیتی ہے کہ کتاب وسنت کی ادلہ صریحہ اور جس پر سلف امت کا اجماع ہے وہ یہ ہے کہ اسلام میں فقط دو عیدیں ہیں جو عید الفطر اور عید الاضحی ہیں ، ان کے علاوہ جو بھی عیدیں ہیں خواہ وہ کسی شخصیت ، یا کسی جماعت ، یا کسی واقعہ سے متعلق ہو یا پھر کسی بھی معنی میں ہو تو یہ بدعتی عیدیں ہیں ، اہل اسلام کے لئے بالکل بھی جائز نہیں کہ وہ اسے منائیں، یا اسے مانیں ، نہ ہی اس میں کسی قسم کی خوشی کا اظہار کریں اور نہ ہی کسی بھی چیز سے اس میں اعانت کریں، کیونکہ یہ اللہ تعالی کی حدود کو پامال کرنا ہے اور جو کوئی بھی حدودِ الہی کو پامال کرتا ہے تو وہ اپنے ہی نفس پر ظلم کرتا ہے۔
مزید برآں اس اختراع شدہ عید پر اگر یہ بھی اضافہ ہوجائے کہ وہ کافروں کی عیدوں میں سے ہے، تو یہ گناہ درگناہ کی موجب ہے، کیونکہ اس میں ان سے مشابہت ہے اور ان سے ایک طرح کی محبت ہےجبکہ اللہ تعالی نے مومنین کو ان سے مشابہت اختیار کرنے اور ان سے محبت کرنے سے اپنی کتاب عزیز میں منع فرمایا ہے، اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے یہ ثابت ہے کہ
آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ‘‘مَنْ تَشَبَّهَ بِقَوْمٍ فَهُوَ مِنْهُمْ’’([1])
(جس نے کسی قوم سے مشابہت اختیار کی تو وہ انہی میں سے ہے)
ویلنٹائین ڈے بھی انہی عیدوں میں سے ہے جو بیان ہوئی کیونکہ یہ بت پرستوں اور نصاری کی عید ہے، کسی مسلمان کے لئے جو اللہ تعالی اور یوم آخرت پر ایمان رکھتا ہے حلال نہیں کہ وہ اسے منائے ،یا اسے مانے، یا پھر اس کی مبارکباد دے، بلکہ اسے اللہ تعالی اور اس کے رسولصلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی بات مانتے ہوئے اور اللہ تعالی کی ناراضگی وعقوبت کے اسباب سے بچتے ہوئے اسے ترک کرنا واجب ہے۔
